Hi,

I bought a spare part (memory card door/cover - MEDIA LID ASSY (850)) from Encompass to replace mine (was a bit damaged) on my Sony A1 (ILCE-1).

I managed to take the damaged one out of the camera. But I struggle to put in the new one. There is a shaft that doesn't want to go in the 2 top & bottom holes an d I don't want to break it.

Called a repair center and they said the cabinet needs to be disassembled in order to replace the part.

Is anyone knowledgable? I don't see any tutorial/guide on internet :/

Thanks!

The lower part of the rod appears to extend furtherÖ

Did you try inserting the lower end first and then with a flat blade screwdriver push the top end of the rod and angle it into the hole. If that does not work then try the reverse, putting the top rod into the hole first and then lever the lower part of the rod using the screwdriver.

That is exactly what I was thinking about. The rod is quite flexible so that makes sense. However i didnít manage to bend the rod sufficiently to insert the bottom. Same with the top. But thatís how I did to take it off the first time. So I guess I miss THE tool to do it easily!

I wonder if you can lever out the box shaped part of the spring from the indent and that would allow the rod to slide up and down. And then lock it back in place when done.

I can slide the rod without any problem. The issue is putting back the rod onto the cameraís holes. The rod is like 1mm longer so I guess I have to put one side on one hole and then bent it to reduce the size and put the other side on the other hole? But even by forcing a little, I struggle. Maybe I donít have the right tools

Are you trying the top hole first or the bottom one? I would think it needs to go Top first

Finally managed to disassemble the camera. Indeed, there is a full hole at the top. The rod need to go through this hole from the top! https://ibb.co/xqFzXSj

Keep up and continue to debug. I need to understand this so when my replacement arrives I can understand what to do. Thank you in advance.
