I've been using Lightroom to create Blurb photobooks for years. Most of them are rather large (13" x 11" and 200 - 235 pages), and I always select the highest quality papers, etc. As a LR (and PS) user, I like being able to do everything pretty seamlessly and in one file management platform.

Lately, I've seen on the interwebs that there are new book makers that might be better than Blurb in terms of ultimate quality. The quality of the printed images is the single most important thing to me.

What's everyone's recent experience? I've generally been pretty happy with Blurb, but haven't looked at other options in years. Maybe I'm missing out on better options?

Blurb is probably the best "cheap" provider. Quality is "OK' for offset printing. Quality control is sometimes a problem. Of 10 books I did a few years ago, 2 were garbage and had to be re-done.

Adorama's Printique is top quality at top price. Images are printed on true photographic papers, not offset. With Printique, you need to build your book and then wait for a sale. Printique has frequent sales of 15% to 25% off, and they are short fused. Sometimes only 24 hours. Of the 7 books I did with Printique, all were perfect, no quality control problems.

Have used Saal Digital
Top notch quality; pricey
They likewise print on photo papers, have lay flat pages that work great for panos
ICC profiles for each of their papers so you can get a perfect color match

Saal Digital is in Europe but ships DHL air to USA
Took only about 1 week production and 2 days shipping so really felt no different than using a domestic lab
