p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Nikon Repair Question

I have a 300mm 2.8 and the local (factory authorized) repair shop (Atlanta) is telling me that the main board is bad and the lens is scrap. They say that only Nikon can reprogram a board.

1. Anyone know if this is true?
2. Anyone have experience with this repair?
3. Is there anywhere I can send it (not Nikon) that can work on it?

It's a VRII, I think... but maybe a VRI, since Nikon's end-of-life'd it.

Peachtree Camera is the one telling me it can't be reprogrammed. I'm taking it to KEH today to see if they can do anything with it.

According to the NikonUSA web site, the VRII is still under support for repairs. That would be the model with the lens name in black badge, instead of gold which is the VRI.

KEH won’t be able to help. Call Authorized Photo. They have loads of parts. They will likely be able to fix it.
