Much MUCH better view of your back 40 Pete! Love that autumn back yard view.
I would have cut them down years ago myself.
Actually, I have kind of a hate thing going on with pine trees. I cut, chop, twist off, mow over, kick, bite with my teeth any little pines growing on our property. I made the mistake 26 years ago to let many trees grow in our back 40, several of which were small pine saplings. Now they are giant ugly half dead looking things, two of which are laying out there right now that fell over root balls and all. I can't stand them because all of ours here in SC are just nasty Loblolly pines that fall over easily after ice storms or heavy winds and always look like crap anyhow. We did try to transplant a Blue Spruce from our home in NY decades ago but they just can't handle the heat down here.

I take it you don't sneeze near the Loblolly pines.....
It certainly improves the sight lines..... but one thing about spruce/fir/pine trees, there are no leaves to rake.
Our 20 or so maples, well, that's another story, an over-abundance of raking in the fall.
