Mounted it in the R5… direct no adapter needed

image looks clean in viewfinder

manual focus works

aperature changes the exposure in viewfinder but read out for f stop stays at F00
worse I can’t get the shutter to take a photo
I am sure I am missing something basic
Can anyone help please

Solved my own problem with help from the seller
Will read F00 no worries there lens controls F stop
Had to enable take activate shutter without lens in custom functions
All good

You have one of the more recent versions of the lens, which has electronic connection with the camera. I would expect the correct aperture to be indicated in the EXIF data, along with other information from the lens. Do you have a DOF preview button, which would close down the diaphragm?

This is not true. The RF version of that lens does not have aperture control. The EF version comes either way, but OP said they mounted it direct to their RP, so they have the fully manual RF version.
