OOPs, I wasn't paying attention. Yeah Britton is not the place to but the M11. Significantly less to buy inside the EU right now. Luckily that is where my Wife is.

Just curious, how much is an M11 from Vienna? 8750€ minus VAT? ~7000€?

7000 Euro is only 6726 US Dollars at today's exchange rate.

Pretty good price for an M11.

The low euro is why I rented the SL2-S to try it out and see if I should buy one in Europe (there’s even a 650 euro discount on that camera, making it cheaper new in Europe than used in the US). Unfortunately, the camera is too large for my taste.

You basically can’t go wrong on a M11 bought in Europe right now, but for me 60mp combined with a sub-optimal focusing mechanism for critical focus and lack of IBIS is a no-go. That kind of resolution calls for excellent AF and stabilization.

And used goods don’t include VAT anyway, so those are just as expensive as here in the US. Too bad.

Do they actually ship to the US? Stores often don’t ship electronics outside of certain economic areas.

Yep.

As far as the money goes I am able to get one in Italy for just under $7,000. So, I am OK with the price of the camera. But when I figure out all the accessories I would also need to change like the new EVF, extra batteries it begins to add up again.

I am happy with the range finder for focusing.

However, Like you I am not sure how much I will like the 60mpx sensor. I am 70 in just over a Month. I do have some issues with tremors in my right hand due to nerve damage. Even with solid hands 60mpx is a challenge to shoot at low shutter speeds without IBIS. One of the things I really like about the M10-P is how well it handles noise in low light situations. At 24 mpx it is a very forgiving camera to shoot with. The increased resolution already has a noise penalty. If I have to shoot at higher shutter speeds due to the lack of IBIS, then I will need to raise the ISO to match in many circumstances. This will add noise. I am not sure how I will like that. I am struggling with that choice. I had already decided I wouldn't upgrade until Leica figures out how to get good IBIS in its higher resolution M cameras. I don't print big all that often, and even then have never had an IQ problem with 24mpx.

That has me thinking that I will pass for now. My Wife and I are in Europe a few times a year. The Dollar is likely to get even stronger.

My Wife says that all the luxury brand stores are being stripped bare of inventory by the American tourists taking advantage of the exchange rate. She hasn't been able to buy any of those stupid expensive purses, shoes, clothes she usually buys when she is in Europe. Good! There is a special place in hell for people like Jimmy Choo I am sure...

Free shipping from Amazon UK global store. Great time to get an OLED switch if you want one. Some people reporting Best Buy and Target price matching, but it's very YMMV.

Plus Jimmy Choo is not the same high quality product it was after Michael Kors bought the company.

I noticed that. They started hurting my feet when I tried to wear them. Maybe because I have size 15 feet.

I was hoping to buy one of the Contax 50mm 1.4 CY conversions to M mount from a UK shop but they are all out.

So, for US people, is there a known solid way to get a m11 from Europe with a monster discount given the currency differential?

did you check reddotcamera.co.uk? You can see the prices w/o VAT, then check using a currency converter.

Leica Manchester is very easy - can pay with credit card and can show prices in USD.

What about the import duties and brokerage fees? Does anyone know how to calculate these?

I think you may get better savings in some of the EU Countries that refund VAT and other taxes to foreign buyers. Worth exploring.

Mail ordering from the UK - they do not charge VAT as long as you make sure to select that option!

I just used Leica Manchester because they take credit cards, no money wire needed. Same prices.

Thanks, I had originally looked them up but kept getting links to the main Leica UK site, which doesn't ship to the US. Bummer that when switching the prices to USD on their site that it still includes VAT – have to add it to the cart to see the price without VAT in the total.
