I have seen little in comparison between the Batis and Loxia 25.
Maybe someone having owned/compared both could chime in?
From my experience, currently owning one copy of each:
Loxia 25/2.4 is an amazing lens by anyone's standards. It is quite sharp when wide open, from edge to edge. Gentle and appealing light falloff/vignetting to about f/4.0. Very little (if any) field curvature or CA. Great color and contrast -- very crisp and true. Amazing sunstars! At its best from f/4.0, but looks great even wide open at f/2.4. Surprisingly dense/weighty body (as with most Loxia) -- but quite small in length and girth. I generally prefer MF lenses, and this is top of the heap, especially paired with Sony a7R4 viewfinder magnification. I'd say Loxia is at least in top five of my all-time best FF lenses, and likely my favorite MF lens.
Batis 25/2 is excellent (had a friend with a problem Batis 25 -- focusing/tilted element -- on a brand new one, and got it replaced easily by Samy's in Pasadena, and the new one is great). Batis has an extra 1/2 stop, with f/2.0. Color is nearly as good as Loxia. Sharpness not quite as good, but still pretty great. So-so sunstars -- blah. Focusing is very accurate on mine -- I'm generally paranoid about AF mis-focus on critical scenes. Slight barrel distortion. Slight CA fringing -- not bad, but more than Loxia at wider apertures. More vignetting than Loxia, but looks good at f/4.0-5.6 -- the vignetting often adds to landscape shots, especially in woods. Chubby like all Batis models, but very light weight overall. A real pleasure to use its AF, making it easier to frame subjects.
If I were forced to choose one over the other, it would be to keep the Loxia. But . . . I would prefer to keep and use both!
Good used prices here on FM B&S for both Zeiss series. I've bought all mine here and had very good luck with them -- only a Batis 40 that couldn't be fixed and was easily returned -- the second one is terrific one of my favorites! Buy with confidence.
Hope this helps!
