With interior temperatures in the state in the 100-117 degrees, my wife and I were lucky able to spend a week in Carmel, with temp's in the mid to high 70's. Lucky us.
One of the "things to do" is see and photography the western setting sun off the white sand beach. We have been going to Carmel for over 25 years, mainly to celebrate our anniversary in January, but I had never thought to grab a sunset shot. I took this from the elevated path along Scenic Ave that parallels the beach. I wanted something a little more interesting than "sand, water, and sun".
I handheld my camera high over my head with the camera's rear LCD screen swiveled down to give me at least a fighting chance to frame a decent shot through the branches of this Cypress tree. I could barely see the details in the LCD frame, but what the heck, after 25 years it was time to get a sunset shot. The bonus was the offshore smattering of clouds that amplified the sun's spectral highlights.
