Atlas Athlete is one of the best camera backpacks made today, in my opinion, and it will take that gear easily. I happen to have one for sale in the B/S Forum, if interested 😁

My Athlete is a medium and I can fit the 150-400 attached to an OM-1. It's tight, but it fits. I can also fit a second OM-1 and 12-100. Planning to take these on an upcoming trip to Chile to photograph pumas in a couple months.

That really surprises me. The Atlas web site appears to show that the Sony FE 200-600 barely fits in the Athlete pack without a camera body attached, and the OM-1 + 150-400 combo is longer and wider than the Sony.

I'm currently using an old LowePro Flipside Sport 20L bag, which fits the 150-400, OM-1 with battery grip attached, 12-100mm f4, and a 60mm macro. There's still room for more stuff, but that bag doesn't have velcro over the entire bottom surface so I can't add any more dividers. I'd like to find something a little better, but the prices of new bags is somewhat staggering.

What we use for traveling.... We have been using the older version of the Gura Gear Bataflae 26 Liter camera bag. There is extra room to put other stuff in the bag so the weight is on our back and not in the Chobe hand bag. Without thick items in the outer pocket we can fit it in the overhead in the smallest aircraft.

As you see in the images is one view of how it is packed for traveling and the second is once we get there with two of the three cameras mounted to lenses. We use the bags as butterfly's openings for each side. never use it opened as it is shown.

Just another idea and view... Patrick

bag closed

view traveling extra space for items

View on average working out of it 2 lenses mounted

I use the Gura Gear Kiboko 2.0 22 liter camera bag. Hands down one of the most functional bags Iíve owed. It also packs a ton without all the bulk that bags normally have, which is perfect for traveling.

What is the camo cover? Is that over the lens hood too? Thanks!

The digital camo cover is just on the 150-400mm lens hood with a Lenscoat hoodie. We made the cover for the lens hood as Lenscoat would not just sell us the hood separately.

I presume itís the extra large. I try to avoid using the lens hood on all my lenses. I know when out in the field with everything exposed it makes sense and a cover is a good idea too. Thanks so much.

Yes a Extra Large Lens Hood fits the 150-400mm hood.

I always use a lens hood as it will block any stray light hitting the front element as possible. Of course pointing into the sun you get what it is. The hood also protects front element from bumps and drops.

I owned a couple of the original Gura Gear bags, but sold them a few years ago when I switched to front-opening bags. I don't like having to lay the straps down in the mud when I'm accessing the contents.

I can totally see that being an issue. Most of the time when I am shooting it's either out of a vehicle or when I am hiking around I only bring one body and lens attached.

That looks like a Zemlin hood. Would it still fit with the stock hood?
