I am fascinated by the idea that the 35-150 could be used for street photography? I am not a street photographer myself, but the ones I know try to be extremely discreet with small, unobtrusive gear. The 35-150 seems like the opposite of that? How many Ricoh GRIII’s could fit inside a 35-150?
If you’re a working pro I totally get picking up the 35-150. But for a hobbyist? Seems like a tougher choice, but I don’t like heavy lenses - except in super telephoto where there are no other options.
I guess it depends on your definition of "street", which encompasses very broad ranging styles. I can understand why discrete works for some, and for me that is often a 55/1.8 (which is as discrete as I can get with my lens options). But I also often venture out with a 70-200 for scene compression or to pick out details/faces on the street, so it really all depends. Being somewhat introverted I'm also not the type of person who likes to get in strangers' faces, which often kinda necessary with something like a GRIII and its 28mm lens yet is also not really very discrete. Many of the people I took photos of yesterday in a city park with my 70-200, by contrast, probably never knew they were being photographed.
