We have a semi-annual community newsletter and I had the pleasure of interviewing my 84 year old neighbor. In 1983 she was working for the US government in the foreign service when the embassy in Beirut was hit by a massive truck bomb. 67 people were killed, miraculously, she survived. It took three years of surgeries and PT to help her overcome a traumatic brain injury and 16 broken bones, I'm sure her optimism and sheer determination was elemental to the recovery. It's not just the military we should thank for their service.
