Update:
Bought an Uplift L-desk that arrived a few days ago. So far I'm loving it!

Decided on Uplift as sourcing a table top for the Desk Haus became increasingly complicated/expensive. At one point I had quotes for the top only that exceeded what I spent in total on the desk (2k). Also got better under table mounting and am thrilled with my cable management. Even managed to get a APC UPS semi-attached so that is a nice clean option with nothing on the floor.

Standing is just as comfortable (and maybe more so) as sitting for culling photos in LR. Feel like it is a more natural position for how I work with the left hand over the 1, 2, 3 and X keys and right on arrows.

Also, my seated position is improved as I can dial in the exact height vs my old DIY where the only adjustments were to the chart and monitor height.

As a bonus, the lowest height is perfect for propping my feet on the desk. And the max height was great for running cables.

Can post photos if there is interest.

Hi Eyal,

Thanks for sharing your adventure, an elevating desk has been on my wishlist for a while now. As someone who has always worked on their feet outdoors, the long stretches in the chair have been, er, unkind during the pandemic. I've had to go to extra lengths to make sure I'm getting up regularly and I've concluded that the merits of an adjustable height workstation would make it easier to get off my, um, bottom.

I like the "extra touches" of the grey walls and shades, that I may ask, what was your lighting solution?

Many thanks in advance, and job well done!
Jimmy G

Thanks!

Lighting is a cheap Ikea number but with high quality bulbs
https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/tidig-ceiling-light-with-5-spotlights-nickel-plated-00262657/

Bulbs are SORAA VIVID MR16 GU10 5000k (cost was $27 each). These are very high CRI and have been great for the past 7 years.

Thanks for the bulb info, it looks like you did some homework on that decision! Maybe I'm just not "in the know", but I've never seen a manufacturer supply a TM-30-18 spectral report with their lights before...

...I've clearly got a bit more to learn moving forward. Thanks for the heads up!

I know you chose a base but I figured I would add my 2c for posterity. I thankfully have a vwindesk and the biggest thing I have heard is make sure there are motors for each leg (cheaper 2-leg systems have just one and a gear setup).

Toppers can be anything but Ikea has got some great large slabs that look great.

Monitor arms are wonderful, and hanging the PC with brackets and straps makes wire management a lot easier and frees up a lot of desk space.

The one issue I've found with using my sit/stand desk for color grading video, editing photos, and especially for mixing and EQ'ing music is that your calibrations can get thrown off depending on your room configuration. This is especially true with my music monitors (aka speakers); I spent a lot of effort calibrating them precisely to my room, but of course once you move the desk up or down that calibration goes out the window since they're at a different height and the walls will reflect differently, so I have to recalibrate.

Similar story for my reference monitor for color grading video and working on photos (I have two different calibration settings for video and photos); the calibration is performed under semi-controlled lighting conditions, I haven't yet set things up to completely darken my room. If I did, raising or lowering the desk wouldn't matter but when I raise it my monitor gets a bit more light from the windows (I close the curtains but the curtains aren't lightproof). Just something to think through as you set this up.

Beautiful setup. What desktop style is that?

Also curious if anyone's tried the Jarvis desks.
