As we're enjoying unusual hot weather over here, I looked up a street fashion shoot I did years ago during another sweaty summer
It was memorabe for me for several reasons
To begin with I was using a Tpir 2.8 300mm lens on a gripped F2AS, together quite a hefty combination
Although not in the same league a its Nikon counterpart, it received much praise in Pop Photography Magazine for its performance despite costing little over 10% of the Nikon
Secondly in youthful hubris I decided I let the model move freely while walking towards me, and nevertheless shoot wide open at 2.8 (although with Trri-X max ISO 800 of the time and required high shutter speed - I was shooting hand held - that also was kind of inevitable / mandatory) which of course made trytng to get things in focus really exiting
Looking back I still like the results, although of course as far as sharpness is concerned they can't stand the comparison with what the AF of a modern DSLR or mrrorless would be capable of
But hey, we were wild back then
