p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Create NYC (formerly PhotoPlus) Postponed Until 2023

Create NYC (formerly PhotoPlus) has been postponed until 2023. Their release claims “the first show needs a little extra time to produce the collective and inspiring experience imagined for this dynamic space” but I suspect they found that people weren’t signing up for the show, either because of the cost, the hard to get to location at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, or the fact that it wasn’t going to be a traditional exhibitors show.

They tried to make it geared towards young hipster creators, but maybe those people didn't care.

It was supposed to have been held September 29th - October 1st, 2022.

Rampant street crime, monkeypox, and polio, all in beautiful NYC! Can't say I'd want to go there right now either.

- my friend moved down to texas a few months ago. just had his car stolen yesterday with a few others in the lot while he was in the pool where he lives.
other factors

- you all have 815 confirmed cases so far vs NY as a state at 2187 https://www.cdc.gov/poxvirus/monkeypox/response/2022/us-map.html
higher population density, international hub, and other factors

- hey, there are certain groups that are problematic towards getting vax's.

- i have family in Manhattan. my other work does bring me in there on occasion to work.

- NY is nothing compared to where i have ended up on this planet. i was a dartboard my first months at my job prepping for trips. then there are the boosters.

i'm still going to the NAB/AES show barring being out of in the field.

Don't believe everything you hear on nonsense news and social media. If you came here, you would wonder what all the noise is about. In 1990, there were 2245 murders in NYC and there were more than 1000 each year from 1969 to 1995. Last year, in spite of it being a big increase, there was 488 and we're on track this year for below 400. But ask the average person if there was more crime in the 70's, 80's, 90's or today and I bet at least 90% claim it's today.

As of August 5th, there have been 1800 Monkeypox cases in all of New York State (population 20.22m) and 780 in Texas (pop. 29.5m). There has been exactly one case of polio in NYS. I know a lot of people who got Covid. I don't know a single person who has Monkeypox (not that that means much.)

I can't find per-capita current murder rates for Texas, but in 2017, homicides per 100,000 people in Texas was 5 (about the U.S, average) and New York was only 2.8. I think I feel safer here. Far fewer guns,.

My post was mostly in jest. NYC has been making headlines (whether they are to be believed or not) for a lot of reasons in the last few months. As an outsider, it seems like a city in a rapid state of decline.

If you want to step your murder count up, try having a hotly contested border with a failed cartel-ruled nation with ineffectual politicians on both sides.

If we were afraid of guns, we'd never be able to leave the house here. Just about everyone I know carries (some openly, some concealed), and only 1 person I know has ever been around active malicious gunfire, which was a mass shooting ended by a good samaritan with a gun. Like most places, violence is largely contained within certain areas, often between members of those communities against each other. I'd be more concerned about being hit by a NYC cab than being shot in TX.

you might want to give a heads up. somethings just don't go over well. never was there ever a reference to your hometown or nearby city or state until you brought this up. there is no reason to be afraid of guns just the people handling them. i've been to places too.

first "shot" on my way to one of them. this was called: carry-on luggage. not my tools. mine are, as usual, a camera or two.

oh, i forgot, you'll get better pizza in NYC and the surrounding boroughs amongst other things. but, probably not a convenient parking spot if one at all. i go in and out on mass transit as needed.

i think a perspective adjustment is needed on your part. i know i've had mine adjusted more than a few times.

It has always been in the Javis Center....I went there the last time was when Nikon was launching their D5 and D750. You could sign up for free unless you want to attend classes....

I think these trade shows make money off the vendors based on the numbers of attendance.... If no one is attending, there are little reasons why vendors would sign up to promote their brands...

Scott,
Maybe you should show him how Texans carries our guns behind our pick-up trucks. Right in the open and never concealed below deck.
Well, just want to have some fun from a former NRA member. 😂
Seriously, I was wondering how did we end up with picture of personal weapons on a photographic forum.
What was the main purpose of having to do it because this is not the first time he is doing it?

boy, do you have conceptual issues
for the slow:
those were not personal weapons. they were tools of war being carried on a military charter along with myself and other media personnel from an operational theater back in 2003.

Those are not personal weapons, they are Government issue and being transported without their magazines in place. Also the boots and pants visible in the picture look like uniform parts to me.

I never brought up homicides nor gun deaths, you folks did. I said “street crime”. Knowing how to read is important if you want to talk back and forth.

i disdain people who attempt to split hairs. they tend to sound like those politicians they dislike so much.

let us all do ourselves a favor and end this spiral of you know what.
