Rampant street crime, monkeypox, and polio, all in beautiful NYC! Can't say I'd want to go there right now either.
Don't believe everything you hear on nonsense news and social media. If you came here, you would wonder what all the noise is about. In 1990, there were 2245 murders in NYC and there were more than 1000 each year from 1969 to 1995. Last year, in spite of it being a big increase, there was 488 and we're on track this year for below 400. But ask the average person if there was more crime in the 70's, 80's, 90's or today and I bet at least 90% claim it's today.
As of August 5th, there have been 1800 Monkeypox cases in all of New York State (population 20.22m) and 780 in Texas (pop. 29.5m). There has been exactly one case of polio in NYS. I know a lot of people who got Covid. I don't know a single person who has Monkeypox (not that that means much.)
I can't find per-capita current murder rates for Texas, but in 2017, homicides per 100,000 people in Texas was 5 (about the U.S, average) and New York was only 2.8. I think I feel safer here. Far fewer guns,.
