Is it from earlier batches? When did you buy it?

It was mid January 2023 and I bought it from this seller in Aliexpress:

This is very unfortunate. It seems to be something with the motors (??). Have you tried contacting TechArt about it?

So my last tests showed the following:

-if I shoot only at the minimum focus distance of lens - everything seems to be stable and OK.

- If i set the focus ring at 0.7/0.8/0.9/1m etc. - it works comparatively well - sometimes the hunting is present again.

- If i set the focus ring to infinity mark - the hunting is constant

Which lens? Have you tried the adapter with a different lens?

Yes, this is valid for all my available lenses as all of them are with weight till 400 grams (or around) maximum i.e.:

- Voigtlander Nokton Classic SC 35mm f/1.4 II VM

- Voigtlander Nokton 35 1.2 II VM

- Syoptic 50 1.1

- 7Artisans 50 1.1

- Minolta Rokkor 58 1.2

etc. Cameras: Sony A7C / A9 / A7RV

P.S. When I used to own LM-EA7 my best results in terms of sharpness at wide-open were with Zenitar M 50 1.7

I feel the original LM-EA7 said that we should select a focus point such that the range of movement could achieve focus.

I took it that way anyway. So if you focus at infinity, there are two possibilities:

I : The focusing mechanism can not find movement to achieve Focus.
II : The lense focuses beyond infinity which may confuse the logic.

I hope this may offer a ray of light on your issue.

Certainly! This is particularly true when it comes to lenses with focal lengths of 50mm or more. As you mentioned, achieving proper focus with the adapter might not be as straightforward as setting it to infinity. It's still necessary to fine-tune the focus based on the distance you're shooting at. While with wide-angle lenses, setting to infinity tends to be enough for a wide range of distances, it's worth noting that even at close distances, some adjustment of the lens's focus is essential to ensure an adequate focus range for the adapter to work properly.

I recently got the LM-EA9 adapter, and it's working well with all my M lenses on the A6600 camera. I'm planning to test it on the new A7CR once available.

Fred, what's your serial number?

P.S> Evidently the message board on their site has failed sending my mail. Do you have any valid mail for contacting them?

After I tested the Leica 28/1.4 Lux lens, my adapter stopped working. It wouldn't focus at all, even though I had been using it a lot for many days. This lens is the heaviest one I've tried, weighing around 400 grams. Back then, my firmware was version 1.6. To try to fix the problem, I reset the adapter by taking a photo at f/90, followed by f/2, hoping that focusing would start working again. Sadly, this method didn't do the trick. So, I thought that maybe I needed to use an older firmware for this to work, and I downgraded to firmware version 1.5 and tried resetting again. This time it actually worked! Ever since then, the adapter has been working perfectly with the 28/1.4 Lux lens.

I will probably keep firmware v1.5 because it's working well on the A7C.

Update: After using it for a few days, the adapter is still working well even after the reset with firmware version 1.5. I went back to version 1.4 to use the toggle between manual focus and autofocus. This toggle is super handy for close-up manual shots, and it remembers where the focus was left.

With the 1.4 firmware, autofocus is still quick and dependable.

It appears to focus better away from the center with lenses that have a flat field curvature, like telephoto and macro lenses.

After using it on the Sony A7C for a couple weeks, I tried it again on a A9 and focusing seems improved. I will test this further to confirm this.

A curiosity question here for owners of the adapter. Has this adapter made you clear out any of your e mount autofocus lenses? Second question, an important for some of us, how well does it keep up with children

I have both the 35GM and CV40 VM, and I've rarely used the GM in the last year since I got the Techart. I haven't sold the GM yet, but the AF is "good enough" with the Techart. It's not up to the task of kids running around like the GM is though. There will be missed shots, but plenty of keepers.

Anyone here from UK bought this adapter?
I wonder if Techart declares actual value and we pay full custom fees, VAT etc

Gotcha! I currently use the Sony 40/2.5 and Sigma 65/2, and while its nice that both are reactive, I cant help wonder if my Ultron 40/2 and Nokton 58/1.4 could do the trick. I find both E-mount lenses while nice in hand to be clinical.

I used this adaptor with a7cii and zeiss zm 25, it works only on the center area of auto focus zone
how about I purchase a fotodiox pronto II and adapt the zm25, the focus area will be wider? any suggestions?

The Fotodiox Pronto is essentially a replica of the earlier Techart model, so there won't be any enhancements.

These autofocus adapters don't perform at their best with lenses wider than 35mm. Strangely, the adapter struggles to reliably focus beyond the central area with such lenses. However, it excels at focusing well beyond the central area when used with 50mm, 75mm, or longer lenses.
