Dust inside lens doesn't matter. Don't pay someone to take apart a function lens for that.

Here's some quick articles that look at how dust/obstructions affect the lens:

https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2019/04/removing-fly-from-weather-sealed-canon-70-200mm/

https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2011/08/the-apocalypse-of-lens-dust/

http://kurtmunger.com/dirty_lens_articleid35.html

Long story short. It probably does not show up in your images and definitely is worth the risk of lens disassembly.

In the absence of more information, I agree with @Mike_5D and @pokemeng. It's very unusual to have the inside of a lens cleaned, unless it's a lot worse than some dust.

The following thread from earlier this year, includes links to many wide/ultra-wide lens comparison images, including the 17-40/4L.

Canon 17-40 f4 vs. 16-35 f4 (stopped down), https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1754085/0#15928864

Basically, the EF 17-40/4L is as sharp as anybody needs in the centre, but not as good as landscapers would like in the corners (for those occasions when there's something there, and in focus, it happens).

Can you post any sample images? There could be a problem, but it might not be related to dust.

Forget cleaning and just enjoy the lens. Unless it is REALLY filthy

If you don’t see dust in the photos, no harm no foul. Not broke don’t fix it!

I'll throw in that disassembling this lens to clean it requires optical adjustment after. You may get back a cleaner lens that's worse optically.
