Sigma 18-50 on full frame?

Looking to see if I can use this as a light travel lens on an A7r4. 33mp is plenty for the "hey im on the beach" images. Anyone try to use this on this body with decent results?

If you use it in APS-C mode I don't know why it wouldn't work just fine. But you won't get 33mp-the A7r Iv in crop mode is 26mp which is still fine for your use I think.

Yes, I picked it up recently just for that reason. For use as a daily walkabout and light travel option. So far I'm pretty happy with how the photos are coming out.
The most recent 4 photos in my flicker photostream were taken with that combo of A7R4 and Sigma 18-50mm and resized to 4K. flickr

I'll try to get some full size ones up this weekend for you to take a look at.

Yes, the 18-50 works great on the a7R4. It's tiny. But the 28-70 DG DN is really not that much bigger once coupled with the full size body and it uses all of your sensor. Unless you have an APS-C body to use it on, I wouldn't specifically recommend the 18-50 on the full frame body. I think the results from the 28-70 are just alot nicer. More background separation even on basic snapshots.

The 28-70 I guess is another option I will look at. But the extra 4mm is a bigger deal for landscape imo

18mm in aps-c mode would be equivalent to 27mm in full frame. So not a big difference vs 28-70mm. Plus f2.8 in aps-c would have more depth of field than 2.8 in full frame similar to 27mm f4.

Love the 18-50 on my A6600 but I agree I’d pick up a 28-70 type lens for FF.

The biggest argument for the 18-50 on full frame is size and weight, and those only if you are looking for the absolute minimum weight zoom for the range. I've chosen it for when I'm riding my bike or onewheel with the camera. I think it's $200 cheaper too.

18-50 is 27-75mm ff equivalent on Sony I believe. Great range. I use 18-55 on canon. But I'm not sure if I'd want to give up ff on a ff body.

If the focal length range works for you, it's a great combo on the a7Riv. I needed something a bit wider for my crop shooting, so end up getting the Sony 16-55, but was very happy with the performance of the Sigma when I had it.

id rather get the 28-60 kit from the a7c or the 28-70 dg dn ... both better options on FF imho.

Yeah I don't find the 28-60 really a comparable lens. Nice lens if you know you'll have a lot of light available, though.
