I think a lot of people will try to find what works for them and simplifies their needs. They will also look at what simplifies their workflow.

For me, I am just an enthusiast and I shoot Fuji X... I had a Nikon Z6 and hated the AF performance of it, so I sold that and went back to Fuji. The Nikon had fantastic color, good detail, and good DR.

The Fuji had all the same things and more reliable AF at the time.

Ultimately, no one brand is going to suit everybody and if people aren't completely satisfied, then they should try other brands, until they find the one that fits them.

I have been a big fan of Thomas since his earlier videos. I think his biggest attraction is his authenticity, a rare trait on Youtube. I love the line in the latest video about only the owner of the lens gets to enjoy its resolution......how very true.

Depends on what type of photographer you are, age and weight tolerance, etc. The 100-400 doesn't bother me at all either in my Osprey pack or on my Peak Capture, and is the swiss army knife lens for landscape. I almost never use it on a tripod either. It's nice to have the speed of the lens in less than ideal and unpredictable lighting vs the cheaper and slower superzooms.

It's just a big, heavy, lens for a ganre that 200+ isn't really the focus. I'd be far more concerned with having <24mm.

And I never take <24 because I find it extremely boring. Different strokes!

The biggest thing that I would hate giving up if I were going from MF to a FF is the 16 bit file to either a 12 or 14 bit. In most situations it is not a big deal but in situations where there are color or tonal gradations, such as clear blue skies, or in the studio, seamless backgrounds with graduated lighting etc, it makes the difference between banding or no banding.

I think I can count on a single hand across over 10,000 images where banding was so visible or disruptive that it irrevocably messed a shot up, and I shoot at dusk/dawn quite a bit. It's largely an overblown concern in my mind. I've seen more shots posted here that were ruined by moire from GFX cameras than any others, if we're putting the shoe on the other foot

Everyone has a different experience. Many people don't even notice it until it is pointed out to them. I've experienced in studio shooting, with seamless backgrounds, tonal gradations of lighting reflections in products and outside clear sky shots. Does it happen a lot, no, but I've seen it happen more than just a few times. When it does happen it is a pain to fix.

I can't speak to moiré issues with Fuji cameras.

Hm not 100% sure, but if I remember correctly neither the Fuji GFX nor the Hasselblad X1D have an end-to-end 16bit pipeline, you would need the H6D 100c or a Phase One for that. I'd also assume that bayer interpolation could be a worse problem than 14bit vs 16bit precision, but never had problematic banding with a 14bit camera so wouldn't know

Watching him swap the lens in the wind with the body mounted on the tripod makes me cringe. Nice photos though.

s for Landscape...
... Max Rive still rocks his D810, maybe D850

And Daniel Kordan delivers great photos every single day with his boring Nikon Z7 II so who really need more than this cameras

You were right. Those two are excellent.

Like I said, he figured out what sells. I personally couldn't care less what gear he shoots with, that wasn't why I watched him in the first place, but this bilge was enough to push me away for good.

His next video will be title "Why I switched back to Nikon" - that will hit the record books in terms of views - and his channel will no longer be considered garbage.

About a year ago, I decided I had enough of my Fuji X-T3, primarily because of the X-Trans sensor. I had never rented camera equipment before but with this decision, I decided to rent a Z7 II and 24-200mm lens. The cost was about $300 for a week. For me, it was a great decision to rent the equipment as I fell in love with that combination. I was also debating about a Fuji 50r but was put off by the size and weight of the lenses (especially the 100-200).

In the end, I decided on the Z7 original though it was the better bargain. I've had it for a year now and I truly hope it's a camera I will own for the next 10 years.

That being said, I do understand a photographer's journey to find the right equipment for them. It is an evolution and might take owning several different bodies to truly understand the experience of shooting with them.

By that time folk here would have long since stopped watching his channel. It is a shame he abandoned his former excellent content to follow the YouTouber model.

Thom(Tom?) swapped his 24-120 for a 24-70 2.8 in his latest video:

I personally have been more than happy with the f4 version (and I've owned both - sold the 2.8. It turns out he must have been pixel-peeping after all
