Along with the Great Egrets, the wetlands had a nice assortment of birds around. It was technically empty though. This was from last week and I was happy that there were so many birds available.

Forgot this photos, don't see Black Bellied Whistlers with chicks often and there they were just sitting in the straw.

For sure the Black Bellied Whistler is an uncommon sight here and the chicks may be a first here Brian That is quite the pairing with Swamphen and Glossy Ibis together. Is the Tricolor an immature? Lots of sweet subjects you were offered, nice shooting.

Karl,
Most of the birds are juveniles that haven't decided or know how to fly north yet, as long as they have food to catch they do hang around. Black Bellied Whistlers aren't very numerous around here (South Florida) but do see them occasionally.

One from Wakodahatchee, the first, the rest from Green Cay. Since they are a few miles apart, I mostly do a two-fer
