I used the Rokinon 24mm 1.4 for a few years. Was my go to canon wide angle astro lens. Loved it but can have some copy variation.

Well, after a week at the star party, I found out my EF 135 F/2 L is a pretty darned great AP lens.

Both of these are a few images stacked and edited, hence the wonky EXIF data. All were taken with the R6.

I did stop the 14mm Rokinon down some to see how it improved. I have to do a little more review of those images to see if I'll be happy or not. The iOptron sky tracker was a worthy investment for sure!

Tamron 15-30 2.8

I find lenstip has best source of information on coma. So thats my other recommendation. Look to lenstip.

My nightshooting lens are zeiss 15/2.8 and zeiss 25/2. Pretty fast, pretty good, easy to use in the dark. But as stated above, if you have a tracker, higher fstop work, but I would rather stack. Setting up a tracker to north at -20 or with mosquitoes in the dark is not my cup of tea.

eg.

Tamron 15-30 2.8 better than Sigma Art 14 for coma

Tamron 15-30 2.8 better than Samyang 14 2.8

Star Adventurer 2i; it's adequate for wide-field astro, the lack of a built-in reticle light drives me batty. Used up to 105mm with it; shooting at 28mm alignment can be 'close' and still produce decent results.

I've been wanting to get one of these and they pop up on B&H used site every now and then but after buying another camera and lens it will have to wait. I'm still struggling to get a good pix of milky way and that's on ,y bucket list for this summer if I can. Have a telescope to put my camera on as well but still trying to figure that out and make it work. Would love to see some pixs of every ones setups...

Oh sweet, nice setup...And spendy I bet.
I have only read about the white/green part you have on your tripod, but between that and your camera, you have quote the setup.
And thank you for the picture.

It's definitely a setup that's right on the edge of what the 2i can hold, but so far I've been able to shoot panos using the mega-sized Sigma 104/1.4 Art. As the Star Adventurer GTi starts to become more available, I'd think used 2i's will pop up more and more.

I use the iOptron version, with a ballhead on it. The nice thing is, if you buy the package, you can mount the camera directly to it with nothing else. You just need a tripod. There is some limited articulation, but at least you can get started.

I'll get a pick next time I set it up.

Any lens or camera will work as long as you have a good tracker
