It's difficult to believe that one of the most spectacular flowers in the garden is in a family closely related to cabbages.

They are annuals and may spread in the garden from their own seed. They flower for weeks and are drought-resistant.

These in flowers are about the size of the palm of my hand.

It is worth Googling to see the varieties available.

For these images I have used f13, which I rarely use.

Olympus EM-1, (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, 1/125 sec at f13 ISO 800, hand-held.

The stereo is crosseye.

It means you cross your eyes to look at the left image with your right eye and the right image with your left eye. It works better than the conventional format on screens.

Some people get it right away, others (like me) take many attempts. It is well worth it for this very different photographic viewing experience. Once you have mastered it you can view crosseye pairs without trying.

The spider flowers are very weedy and spread like wildfire, and although attractive when grown direct from seed in the packet, the subsequent self-seeded flowers are less so. I don't bother with them anymore.

Thanks for the tip. Ours (we have two, grown from packet seed) are in containers.
