Indiana has had its first Limpkin show up in the past couple of weeks. This species has been showing up in many states throughout the country with many first state records over the past few years. I had my R3, R5, and R7 with me on my kayak this morning to try out. I used the R3 first as its my most trusted camera and I didn't want to miss a documentation shot if I had to get one. I spent 6 hours on kayak last week and couldn't find it, but I found it 17 minutes after being on the boat this morning. Here are a couple of photos from the R7. Both images are shot with the bare RF600 f4. They have gone through Lightroom for routine tweaks, then Topaz Denoise, then I sharpened a tad in Lightroom. Clearly the pixel level image quality is not as good as the R5 which in turn is not as good as the R3, but I got a whole lot more pixels on the bird and I think the quality is acceptable.

Hmmm, I'd like to hear a bit more. What do you mean the the pixel level quality isn't as good? Again, one wouldn't expect the same DR, color responsiveness, SNR, etc. from the R7 as the 32 MP CMOS sensor has a pixel pitch of around 3.2 microns vs. 4.4 microns for the R5 and 6 microns for the R3. FWIW, I can tell the difference in IQ between images made with my 5dmkIV (5.4 microns) and R5 though I would never return to the former camera. The R3 (as do other cameras) benefit from the BIS. The Olympus E-M1 Mark III, perhaps one of the best 4/3'rds camera has a pp of around 3.4 microns, so I expect the IQ of the R7 to be very similar to the Oly.
The second image looks fantastic in terms of detail and if I am not mistaken you still were fairly far away if this was a cropped image from a 600 mm, no? I think the jury is still out on the R7.
