I've tried looking on eBay and calling around to some local camera shops, but it seems impossible to find a type K3 focusing screen for a reasonable amount of money. Is there some sage old dealer of Nikon parts I'm unaware of? I would have thought Nikon produced a million of these things but I suppose not!

I see from your profile you're from the USA, here in they UK can be found for around £30,without searching all the used camera stores,I'm sure you'll find one easy enough over here.

Best source for such items is eBay - unfortunately.

Ebay is currently favoring the buyer. Someone absconded with a package from Ebay recently. It was left at my door, but nobody rang the bell. Ebay refunded the price and taxes. I also purchased a vertical grip and it worked for the shutter only. I got the notification of refund yesterday. Right now I am battling with my clicker finger wanting a Z 24-70 f4 for $399 on Ebay. This despite having the 24-200. It is not a matter of trust but a matter of duplicating what I already have.
