p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Trip to the Galapagos, lens question.

Hello,

I have a scheduled 10 day trip scheduled in June the the Galápagos Islands. 5 days on Isabella Island and 5 days on a cruise.

I am trying to figure my photo equipment and I really want to travel light.
I have a big interest in wildlife photography.

If you have been there, I would like you opinion on what to take as lenses.

I will travel with my Z9. I have 500 5.6 pf, with the 1.4X, 100-400 with the 2X. Any suggestion on which one to take will be appreciated. I will bring my 24-70 f4 for sure.

Thank you.

I would take the 100-400, maybe take the 1.4 but you will likely be very close to the wildlife, you need to be sure not to step on them!

I was able to make do with a 400mm and a mid-zoom. Wide angle zoom could also be useful, depending on your style. If you're taking only one body, I could see you being rushed at times when on tours due to changing lenses every time you see a different opportunity.

The 24-70 and 100-400 will be perfect. I took those and a 20 1.8 and rarely wished I had something longer or wider. Best wildlife shooting trip I have ever been on.

Your equipment is looking good, I would suggest you get the waterproof backpack because sometime in June in the Galapagos happen some massive rains, so if you don't want to buy a new camera and equipment, I suggest you get some good waterproof equipment. When I was visiting the Jungle Vista Boutique Hotel, I got bad rainy days. Still, I got some good photos because I got good waterproof equipment and a professional photo shooting umbrella. If you have some questions about that online shop you can buy this kind of equipment, let me know. I will be glad to help you.
