Got my D5. Looks brand new with latest firmware. Don't have a compatible card reader to check shutter count right now. Will check when it arrives.

Edit: 0 shutter count. What a deal. I wish I would have tried to buy 2. But I shouldn't be greedy.

Got both of my D5 in.

Both have 1 shutter count after I have taken one picture each.

Just disappointed in the batteries, I got one battery that was made in 2016, and another heavily worn battery with tape residue and sharpie all over it dated 2014!

Mine is also 2014.04 but no markings and no rubbing or loss of print as yours shows. I might run the calibration sometime.

Even with the battery I am thrilled. I can buy a new battery (I'm assuming)...plus aren't the current refurbs at $4999 likely to be going out with older batteries?

I am sort of thinking maybe I should have went the D850 route. We'll see how things work out, I do indeed like the feel of this camera in my hand.

I was out of the country last weekend and not looking at FM but I am not in the market for a D5 even at $2k.

Nikon refurb deals often seem to have strange pricing anomalies - few weeks ago I think a D6 was less than a D5.
The one that struck me this morning was that a Z50 two lens kit is $40 less than a one lense kit! ($960 vs $999)

Update (if anyone cares!): I called Nikon the next day, about the charging cord issue. Instead of simply sending me a replacement cord, they sent me another complete charger. This one looks pretty much new and unused, and it has the correct cord with it. That’s pretty good customer service IMO. I’ve been learning about, and having some fun with my D5.

Received the refurbed Z 20/1.8. It appears to be new at the first glance. Unlike my returned copy bought from B&H last year, this one doesn't have loud squeaking AF motor sound. But there's nothing to write home about in its IQ department and my 14-30/4 beats it even at wide open. The lens is weak until it stops down to f/11. Even at f/16,my 14-30 is evidently better. Don't know what's wrong with it. Don't know why they drilled two holes on both sides of the serial number with sharp metal edges all over the rims of the holes. You can get your finger cut for sure if you're not careful. Nikon needed to see images before they can take it back because they don't take anything back unless it's defective or unopened or unused. Clearly this one is defective, so they didn't make any fuss. This isn't the first time I got defective refurbs from Nikon Store.

Mine has the two sharp holes as well. Maybe it’s how they identify refurbs.

I get super annoyed when I see a good deal like these D5s and then all the resellers buy them up and then list them on the buy/sell boards at 50 percent markup. It seems like a greedy and shameful thing to do. Perhaps I'm not very well calibrated to the way of the world but I become increasingly more disappointed in humans each and every day.

Both Z and F mount lenses are marked this way. I had a 500 PF from Nikon Refurbished that had the indents.

Meanwhile my D5 has shot 2 and going to shoot a third college graduation so far. Didn't want to put the Z9 and Z7II through college graduation season torture so I'm using the D5 and D850 as commencement mules.

Interesting. I have a 500PF from their recent sale that is free of any markings. I’m not complaining they skipped over mine
