Very nice Gary. It is amazing how so many accidental occurrences turn into some really nice stuff. I moved from a Canon 5D4 to a EOS-R when it first came out to dip my toes in mirrorless, but wasn't happy with wildlife just too slow and AF wasn't that great. But then I got a R5 and a R3 and couldn't be happier. One of the guys I go owling with has a D850 and the 500 PF and gets amazing stuff. Shooting owls is mostly low low light opportunities, my R5 and R3 work great but not as good as his D850. I call it the night stalker for it's ability to shoot in the dark. I think the D850 and D500 have the same AF system which is unbelievably good. However like you his shutter noise is so noisy it really draws the attention to the birds. And boy what a lens that 500 PF is. I have the 400DO II and withTC 1.4 is 560 @5.6 and sharp, but I think the 500 PF is even better.

Appreciate the info Dave ! My experience with the Z50 is mixed so far. Lots of things I like and plenty I don't like. I feel if it was a Z9 there would be many more things to like Unfortunately my hummingbirds disappeared and haven't been seen in two weeks.
