Yes, definitely. It's not quite as good as the primes, but still really good. I use it a lot because of the small size, low weight and nice range.
It's soft at 65-70 mm when approaching MFD and using f/5.6, but otherwise really sharp. I actually find the softness at close range and longest focal length appealing, so that's more of a feature.

To me it's a no-brainer at $500.

I've heard it's very good actually. Seems like a no brainer for $500 and the handy size to me.

Almost as good as my 32-64 for all the focal lengths and more compact. A little slower but its worth the compromise.

How about trying the lens [edit: or at least read some reviews] before you write such nonsense?
Lowest optical quality of GF lenses doesn't say much, since they are all very good. You seem pretty happy with the 50, that is the roughly same price.

When I rented the GF 35-70mm alongside the GFX 50R a couple months ago, I found the IQ to be relatively good. It also wasn't a huge lens, which I appreciated. It definitely would be a lens I'd have in my bag if used the GFX system.

No they don't. I don't understand why you post opinions on things you clearly lack knowledge about.
The OP is asking about a lens that you have zero experience of. Why bother?

The GF 50/3.5 is an optically mostly better lens, but is worse against the light, vignettes more, has longer MFD and doesn't do 35 to 70 mm. Which means it isn't necessarily better for every photographer.
