The reality is that for wildlife and anything that actually moves, Nikon only has one proper camera, the Z9.

That should have read one proper mirrorless camera. The AF and EVF on Z6 and 7’s are poor at best compared to the Z9. Neither come close to the A9 or A1.

Thanks for the clarification, but I disagree with your comment about how Nikon's lesser bodies compare to the Z9. While the Z9 may be better in most or all respects, some folks are getting professional-grade action results using the Z6 and Z6II. I shot track and field, baseball, hockey and auto racing with a Z6 and found it very capable using F lenses and the FTZ.

That is not wildlife is it? So what are you actually disagreeing with?

I'd use a D850 in 2022 for sure. Not sure how loud they are, never used one, but the stuff I shoot that might qualify isn't too scared of noise imo.

Wildlife aren't the only things that actually move, are they?

I use a D850 for wildlife all the time. Feel free to check my Instagram or my website for results. It's an incredibly high functioning body that gives probably 90%+ of the performance of an A1 or a Z9.

Thanks groob. At the moment I decided to buy a d850 with 500 PF. I just don't know whether to invest in XQD cards right away or fast SD cards are enough. I will probably look for a used mb-18 grip with a d5 battery.
I hope that in some time the Nikon will release the d500 in a mirrorless version, at an affordable price, to which I will be able to connect 500 PF.
The Nikon d850 will also come in handy in my studio work, where I prefer to use DSLR with flash units.

Why not go ahead and get some CF express cards? They’ll work in a D850.

Please don't cheap out and use even UHS-II SD cards in the D850. They're as expensive, and slower, than CFE B cards.

+1

I used SD cards for the first few years in my D850 (and D500). In recent years I switched to the Sony XQD (32GB) entirely.

The XQD cards are much more durable than the SD cards.

Kinda like driving a Tesla on Autopilot, when driving is your hobby

Can't stop laughing when thinking about it.
If driving a Tesla on Autopilot is one's hobby then one really doesn't know what driving is all about.
Driving is for feeling the power we get from tapping the gas pedal aka shutter speed on camera, the response we get by tipping the steering wheel aka aperture for depth of field, the combustion we get from octane we add to the fuel aka ISO for sensitivity, and the pressure on our backs coming from the sits due to acceleration aka final exposure results.
Driving a Tesla on Autopilot is for sissies just like photographers using an iPhone where everything is well taken off, and if anything goes wrong just blame it on equipment just like the Autopilot going wrong and getting people killed.
But the final verdict is still with users not knowing or taking full control of their equipments. 🤣🏃‍♂️

Already owned 2 D850 bodies and will be getting a 3rd one to replace my D800 which was involved in a tram accident in Switzerland recently and will not be service due to EOL.
This says something about if the D850 is still viable in 2022.
Just ask oneself a simple question what one cannot do with a camera made in the past 10 years? If the answer is negative then photography is not for you because I can take pictures of birds & planes in flight with a 1st generation M4/3 mirrorless Pany GH1 on a 60x700mm (f/11.7) telescope that I modified myself. Bare in mind that there is no camera control for the telescope and the fucusing is done manually by applying the calculations of hyperfocus and depth of field with respect to expected target range. Target tracking is by using a red dot laser pointer I installed to the scope on tripod.
Also one can get relatively new and good condition 600mm f/4E for about $4500 now and can be used on any bodies compare to that of Z mount lenses that can only be use on Z.
Since everyone is dumping their F mount cameras and lenses, it is the best time to pick your bargains, enjoy photography and not on GAS. Gas is expensive just like recent fuel prices. It will come and go, but the understanding of photography and good pictures taken will not.

The one that I mentioned at about $4,500.00 with no defect mentioned was already snapped up quickly due to owner wanting to fund for system switch.

If you have S$14,000.00 or US$10,194.42 to spare, maybe this might be of interest to you:

Wow. It might be cheaper to fly to Singapore and buy a 600mm f/4 FL than to buy one here!

Actually you are not the first to have this thought. Many people from surrounding countries, Indonesia, India, Philippines, as far as the Middle East, Europe and even Russia are coming by the plane loads (commercial airliners as tourists), if not by the ship loads (naval ships) to come to shop for whatever they are looking for. Indonesians, Philippinnos for everything, the Middle Eastern and Europeans for electronics especially the British, Russians for cameras and iPhones, and the Indians for GOLD. How do I know if they are coming by planes or ships? Those by ships were still wearing their navel uniforms and were given a couple of hours to shop before being shipped out again. Those by planes are busy reclaiming their goods and services tax refunds at the airport counters before departures. And me enjoying the views of them carrying their arm loads if not cart loads of goods and telling their counterparts how many they bought and how much they safe from buying here instead of home. For Indians at the airport tax refund counters producing their purchase receipts and digging out all their gold bracelets, chains as thick as dog chains one puts on their pets, and of course gold coins, nuggets and little bars. What was going through my mind is how they get through their own customs when they get home? Someone must be enjoying just as much or even more with CASH!
