p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · No aperture ring setting?

Ok so I just got the new sigma 56mm. As we all know it doesn’t have aperture ring. This is my first lens without an aperture ring. And have noticed this behavior. When I turn on the camera the lens will adjust the aperture for the current amount of light/ correct exposure. I have to adjust the aperture back to 1.4. As soon as I turn off the camera and back on it goes back to f3.5 or F4 or 5.6 depending on the lighting. Is this normal behavior for a Lens with no aperture ring?

Sounds like your exposure mode is either set to shutter priority or some sort of Program mode. Set it to manual or aperture priority. Nothing at all to do with where you adjust the aperture from.

I always shoot in aperture priority. Auto iso, and auto shutter and control the aperture on the ring on the lens. Since this lens doesn’t have an aperture ring it’s acting like the lens is in auto also.
