So price is pretty good for the R7, but it clearly is not a 7DII APS-C flagship with a fsi sensor and lowly EVF res. The fact they used R7 name and not R9 for this model means we really can't expect anything better on the APS-C front IMO. I had hoped we would see a true APS-C flagship at around $2-2.5K in the R7. But this is more 90D mirrorless class despite Canon saying it's not. I guess Canon doesn't want to get too close to FF and offer better specs in anyway than even R6.
Still if the AF eye tracking tracking is up there with the R6 it would still be a nice set-up and I might get one for my 500 f/4 II for shooting waders especially, that's a lot of reach.
It depends on how long this takes to ship but late 2022 for a May announcement is rather strange. Why announce this so far in advance?
