When viewing through the EVF in high speed mode and using SAF the viewfinder will lock up in low light conditions, requiring either battery or lens removal before switching power back on again. This only seems to occur when pressing shutter to acquire focus.

I used the MZ12-100mm and PL200mm so it does not appear to be a lens issue.

I have not managed to get the lockup of the viewfinder using high speed mode with CAF nor with low speed and SAF or CAF. So it appears to be uniquely this combination of settings, High Speed EVF and SAF in low light and pressing shutter to acquire focus.

Is this limited to only some users, or is this common for all?

It looks like others have had this issue and one person narrowed it down the following settings.

https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/65999192

- EVF frame rate set to high
- AF+MF set to on.

The good news is that this sounds like a bug and will likely get fixed through a firmware update.

Thank you, somehow I had missed seeing this thread at the time.

The AF+MF setting hadn't occurred to me.

It also appears to be dependant on which lens is used. I had the issue occur using the MZ45mm 1.8, MZ 60mm 2.8, MZ12-100mm 4.0, PL200mm 2.8. Yet could not get it to occur again using the MZ100-400mm 5.0-6.3 and the MZ45mm 1.8 only when trying to focus on low contrast objects.
