These beautiful wild red-crowned parrots are apparently considered endangered in their native Amazon, but somehow we have ended up with large flocks of them around here in Orange County, CA. Apparently no one is exactly sure how/why they came here. Regardless, they are fun to watch as long as one is OK with the very loud noises they make!
Earlier today, I took the kids to a local park, and I used the opportunity to take a few frames. They fly very high and pretty fast, so taking flight shots is rather difficult, particularly if one desires anything other than a blue sky background! The late afternoon lighting wasn't ideal either. But I still feel a bit lucky to have captured these frames during the short time we spent at the park.
All shots with Sony A1 + 200-600mm...
