It is a 21-mile over the snow trek into this location, including working your way through 800 head of elk at a remote elk feed ground. The trip was worth it--and was our second attempt. The first attempt ended with a burned up belt on our tracked machine--about 14 miles out from the end of the road. We changed the belt in the dark and returned to the end of the road, set to try again in a few days.

I knew we needed to get to the location before the moon got any bigger and rose any later or we would not "see" the Milky Way in all the bright moon light with the snow cover.

This is the resulting image from this trip.

Very nice work. I do wished I could see it a little larger. The foreground looks beautiful but the night sky looks just the tiniest bit hazy. Perhaps it was the atmosphere at the time. Anyway you got a great picture to backup the hardwork getting to your location

I commend you on your incredible effort to get to this location. You created a beautiful composition. I agree with "dakel" about the soft look. Otherwise, an outstanding image!
