Although I live in California, and not all that far from Folsom, it wasn't until this year that I spent any time out there. I wasn't there for photography, but these photographs have my interest!
Beautiful pics! I was there a lot last year, and it basically was a mud and dust bowl due to the drought.
Still stunning in a different way - felt like a lunar landscape in places.

Has the situation improved?
Well the drought is not over by any means. The Sierra have an average snowpack (haven't checked but that's what my intuition says). Lake levels are still quite low. Who knows how this spring will turn out.
Thanks for looking and commenting
Great work! I can see why KCRA and other Sacramento stations were covering the bloom last year.
It seems the drought and lowered lake levels provide the opportunity for massive lupine blooms. I've seen similar conditions up at Tahoe. I'm not far away from Folsom, and need to work less and get out and shoot more!
Number 3 is my favorite with the misty mountain BG and rippled effect of the FG, as if the lupines were the surface of the lake itself.
Beautiful photos! I am a local to this area and just visited there a week or so ago. It's not quite up to last year's bloom, but it is definitely still going strong. Very glad I was able to visit on a weekday and avoided the crowds.
