I was getting ready to make dinner the other night and I pulled this sweet potato (yam) out of the closet and decided it just needed to be photographed. I ended up playing around with the framing and lighting quite a bit.

#3: similar to above but with softer lighting and a slightly warmer treatment

#4: like the first shot but with tighter framing

Every time I framed a shot, I thought about doing something in B&W but the colors of the leaves were just too much for me and I couldn't bring myself to get rid of them. I still might do some B&W conversions though. I'll have to live with these for a bit before I decide.

I see why you decide to photograph it. It would have been better (more options) if it had sprouted at the other end.

I can definitely see that. I actually thought of doing photos in his style once I started looking at what I was getting with this potato.
