Did anyone test the T-stop? The lens and the front element look suspiciously small.. (such as compare the luminosity against a reliable & recent brand name F2 and then check how much the exposure changes upon stopping down to 1.4 & then to f1.1.)

The crop f0.95 Mitakon I've had was a T1.2 at best & it was larger than this one.

For a 50mm f/1.1 lens you need a 45mm front element.

Apart form that there is no easy way to perform a test of the T-Stop and my experience is that 99.9% of times someone claims he measured it they just measured something, but not the actual T-stop.
My favorite are still the DXOmark measurements where some lenses get different T-stops on different cameras. What a hoax.

DXOMark is one big hoax. No photographer who is halfway serious can take anything from that site for face value.

Lens tilting on Noxlux 50 1.1

Leica M10R

Sony A7r3

that for reference is the Voigt 40 1.2 on M10r

a SMALL tilt on the garden on the right is included in the test, the lens "noxlux" is tilted and is funny to see how renders the same on Sony and Leica M.

The only fast 50mm I have seen yet that does that.
Still think it is a telecentric design and still think this is the reason it works perfectly on Techart LM-EA9 right into the corners.

That is definitely too much tilt in this sample though.

I don't agree with this. Yes, measuring accurately is HARD, but that's not what I want. If I had the lens on hand I would just point the tripod mounted camera at a TV screen displaying a grayscale test image.(in complete darkness ofc) Put it in manual mode & use identical -underexposed- settings to take a photo of the screen with an identical enough framing. Then compare the histograms of the resulting images & look at how much EV compensation is needed in LR to get an identical enough result. It's impossible to determine if the t-stop is really 1.1 or even 1.15, but it's certainly possible to determine if there are gains to be had over a brand name 1.4 or if the lens is a little bit of a hoax, like the Mitakon I've had.

A couple images to break up the QC bashing But in all honesty, I have mine on the B/S as I almost always reach for my Noct 50/1, but this is quite a nice lens IMO and now I am tempted to keep it after using it again last night. Renders wonderfully as a modern fast 50mm, and extremely so given the modest price and compact size IMO.

The rendering is top!
Don't get me wrong, I am not a sharpness fanatic, but somewhere I miss any sharpness point in your examples.
Except for the child in the backlight.

Is this lens so hard to focus or is it a general problem at f1.1?

Nah, not so hard. But I like softer lenses (much more than most on FM), so I usually tone down LR default sharpness, clarity (a hair) and texture. Those examples are also the victims of web compression and lower resolutions being stretch. Here they are reposted--these should be displayed better (linked from flickr) The lens does has spherical aberration when shooting in near distance that really softens things up too. It's not the hardest lens to focus though IMO, at least compared to actual vintage lower-contrast fast glass.

Received my copy and so far very impressed by the look from the lens. It's soft, has CA, but the rendering is fantastic. The separation at decent distances is incredible, and environment portraits might be my favorite use case for it.

Curious if anyone has used this on a GFX system camera yet?

Did you receive a new copy and is it any better?
I received a review copy from the new allegedly improved batch yesterday.

Still waiting for the delivery, the replacement has been sent using EMS...

Now I am curious about your review; during my test on the "tilted" one I found a nervous feeling on distances over 10 meters at 1.1 (not ideal). As you can see the separation on distance is wonderful; large format feeling .

so, the first lens by Mr.Ding

v

the second lens, tested by them is in my hands..

v

not perfect the result, the garden has some tilt on the right so a minimum tilt result is quite normal. I need to test the lens with more samples.

this was from my perfect CV40 1.2

Is the CV 40mm 1.2 also M-mount or E-mount?

Mine looks pretty solid, but I only checked at infinity as a flat field at 1-3m distance is not overly important to me in a lens like this.

I didi a quite scientific test, on M10r, LV, tripod.

full aperture and f2 at 3 meters.

New

old

CV40 1.2

Clouds are running over my head so it's quite hard to keep the same light between the shots.
I am quite confused about the behaviour of the new compared to the old, seems the focus plan is running back when closed on the aperture.
