Called Competitive Camera in Dallas, TX this morning, and luckily they had in stock and I purchased one.
Not sure if they have or will get more copies. Call and check with them...

The only thing is that, at this time, they would not offer the $100 EDU discount that Tamron has on it. Being an instructor, I am eligible for EDU discount, but, given the very low availability and wait times, I decided to pass on the discount and purchase it from them anyway...

I had feelers out to Adorama and B&H Photo ... no luck for over a month. Procamm, which is local to me, had them in stock twice now. They may still be in stock when you read this, but don't bet on it.

They don’t have a lot of units but if you check from time to time you can get one. Don’t use the notification form, it just don’t work.

Beach Camera has at least one, but they are charging $400 over the price that it should sell for. The fact that they are price gouging makes me think to avoid them forever.

It really isn't that heavy when used, and is perfectly balanced when attached to a heavier camera like A1. When picking it up by itself it does feel heavy, but shooting is effortless.

Was able to snag one a whim yesterday and it arrived today.

Decided I wanted to get it last week and started searching. What worked for me was going to every major online camera store I could think of (several) and putting in a In Stock notification that would have the store alert me via email when one became available.

The store I was able to get it from was Focus Camera but I had notification request in at several retailers. Just sharing in case someone is still looking and wants the best chance to get one asap.

Other option (as others have mentioned) is calling around to stores within a comfortable driving distance as smaller shops are often overlooked.

Thanks. I got the notification first thing in the morning and quickly purchased it. Website changed to out of stock right after.

So far so good, still in the honeymoon phase, but I'm liking what I am seeing. Extremely versatile lens and the weight isn't as bad as the internet would lead some to believe. Definitely the best built Tamron I've owned, and I've owned several over the years. This feels like a GM lens.

Good luck on getting one; hopefully you get one sooner rather than later.
