During my visit to Jungfrau region in Bernese Oberland I managed to do the Eiger trail. Its a point to point hike and it was mostly all down hill but some areas were steep. The trail ends at Alpiglen. Since we missed the train at Alpiglen, we had about an hour to explore this little area. After a bit of rest we started walking down the only road in Alpiglen, the views were just spectacular. The clouds were moving in and out and light was constantly changing. Here are few images from Alpiglen.
What a gorgeous day and location! The first is my favorite, a perfect composition with the leading line of the road and a sense of diagonal movement, really pulls the eye into the scene.
Thanks Ross, the whole BO region is absolutely stunning. Through out the whole hike I never took a single photograph, was just taking it all in! Hard to do the hike with camera gear. Although I only took one lens and didn’t carry tripod. There was a nice water fall right before turning towards Alpiglen but the sunlight was too harsh. Beautiful location and was just nice just watching the scene and light changing constantly.
The first one reminds me of a trip we took to Bavaria some years back, renting a large farmhouse for a big group. of extended family from the EU and the US for a week. We did a hike that began with a ride up the mountain on a ski lift (not what I'm used to in the Western US). and continued with a hike back down though terrain much like this. It was magical.
