The rule is 3 per FL but unlimited in the case of 50mm.

I own Voigtlander 50/1.2 Nokton, Zeiss 50/1.5C, Leica 50/1.4 Lux and Voigtlander 50/2 APO. (Also have the FE 50/1.2 GM AF)

Many of us would prefer a Voigtlander 28/1.4 Nokton instead of another 50mm but this one could be special.

So glad there's a 50mm exception as I already have the CV 50 f/1.2 Nokton, CV 50 f/3.5 Heliar, CV 50 f/2 APO, and CV 50 f/1.5 Nokton, yet very interested in this. Maybe time to sell something off.

Me too! CV 50mm 1.5 LTM, CV50mm 1.5 M (current), CV 50mm1.2, 50 1.4 'lux, 50 1.4 'lux BC for M mount. 3 mor for L mount. Then there's a 50 or equivalent in Olympus, Panasonic, Nikon, Hasselblad, Fuji X and Fuji GFX, Pentax 645 and a couple of Sony's!

It's a disease I tell ya!!

The diagram looks very similar to 50mm f1.2.
Will wait for review before make any decision. The size and weight seems very inviting to be honest.

"フォクトレンダーのフルサイズ用交換レンズとして最も明るいF1を実現。超大口径の標準レンズとして、全長を抑えた精悍なスタイリングとレンズ性能の双方を満足させるべく、一般的なモールド非球面レンズと比較して製造管理が困難な一方、高融点・高屈折ガラスを用いることが可能なGA(研削非球面レンズを採用。絞り開放のF1では、メリハリの効いた合焦面の描写に加え、極めて大きなボケ味が楽しめます。"

"Achieves the brightest F1 as a full-frame interchangeable lens for Voigtlander. As a standard lens with an ultra-large diameter, in order to satisfy both the fearless styling with a reduced overall length and lens performance, it is difficult to control manufacturing compared to general molded aspherical lenses, but high melting point and high refraction glass are used. Uses a GA (grinding aspherical surface) lens that can be used. In F1 with the aperture open, you can enjoy a very large bokeh in addition to the sharp depiction of the focal surface."

Looks like three aspherical surfaces. Rendering from the lead-off image looks modern. Not surprised. 90cm MFD also not surprising, but would have liked at least 70cm.

"A GA (ground aspherical surface) lens produced in-house is used on the first surface of the lens. It is possible to simplify the lens configuration while ensuring high performance, and achieve both high-level image quality and condensed styling while maintaining an ultra-large aperture.

Beautiful bokeh with 12 diaphragm blades

In addition to suppressing vignetting of the rangefinder by suppressing the total length to 55.0 mm (tip to mount surface) despite the ultra-large aperture of F1, it also features a good balance between the body and the lens from an aesthetic point of view.

Dedicated metal hood included

The attached metal hood has a bayonet-type fitting and can be mounted in reverse when stored. It is a convenient specification to carry without compromising the compactness of the main body."

Interestingólonger MFD than I thought, and CV must really think they have something special or itís expensive to produce with this high price for them.

Very curious too see the balance of IQ to rendering. I am not even a 50mm shooter and this lens is quite intriguing. Will be fun to see it again the similar knock offs and .95 Noct.

Will probably be as good as any.

The official price 225K yen seems to be the same that Cosina has for their MFT Super Nokton 29/0.8 (which was their most expensive one up to now):

Perfect! Thank you Juha.

Looks like a special lens. Optical design very close to 50/1.2 and 40/1.2 Nokton lenses with the exception of an extra element and the use of new grinding aspherical surface (GA) for the front element. Three aspherical surfaces for the new f/1 vs four for the previous f/1.2 lenses.

I know I should choose one from these two but somehow I'm keeping both for a while. One of these days I will let one go to the chopping block! I had a hard time finding a good

With all their lenses at $800-$1000 I can see how they would set this one apart in terms of price from the rest of the pack. They can't all be priced the same
The specs do seem to warrant it, especially if they are using new techniques for their glass elements. I'm not sure how appealing this will be to most consumers though. Maybe they really are aiming for the Leica crowd with this one and its pricepoint. Unless the lens resolves 100MP and will last 20 years I don't see myself touching it.

Yes, and when use Google search to convert 225000 JPY (official price before tax) to USD I get 1980.97 $...
$1799 might be close to the actual U.S. price. In any case it's on the high side so I won't be going for it now (I've bought some other expensive stuff recently), and I'm pretty well covered with 50mm lenses as it is...

These are the 19 50mm primes I currently remember having in my collection:

E-mount: CV 50/1.2 SE, CV 50/2 APO, Sony Zeiss 50/1.4, Sony 50/2.5 G
VM/LTM: CV 50/1.5 Nokton II, CV 50/1.5 Heliar classic, CV 50/2 Heliar classic, CV 50/2.5 Color-Skopar, CV 50/3.5 Heliar
1950s LTM: Topcor-S 5cm/2, Topcor 5cm/2.8 (Heliar type), Tanaka Kogaku Tanar 5cm/2, Canon 50/1.5
Old SLR glass: Pentax 50/1.2 K, Pentax 50/1.4 M, Ricoh Rikenon 50/2 P (Pentax K-Mount), Pentax 50/4 Macro, Minolta MC-Rokkor-PG 50/1.4, Minolta 50/3.5 Macro

I felt guilty when i owned 4! Now i have 2.

Excited about this lens (as I have been for every VM release since about 2016). I've been on the fence about selling my Noct f1 for a long while now (optically it just isn't that great though I get its appeal and how it's flaws also contribute to the rendering). Initially I considered the noct 1.2 reissue as a substitute, but am not a fan of its bokeh (its next level on top of the f1) and it is too expensive. This lens might do the trick..

It isn't a small lens though. I predicted 62mm based on Fred's side by side with the 50 1.2 VM on the previous page, but I thought it would be 400g. I've tried to put off lens purchases by telling myself that I only really use lenses under 330g (basically 35lux FLE and under)...but the will is weak. I guess I'm not alone on that front

Iím not at all surprised at the price: theyíre aiming this Nokton 50/1.0 squarely at the USD12,795 Noctilux 50/0.95. And, based on the performance of some of CVís recent offerings, itís likely to match (or in some ways perhaps even exceed) the Leica lens at a fraction of the latterís price. So in those terms the 50/1.0 is not really that expensive. Luckily I just sold my M-Hexanon 50/1.2 which, frankly, was good for its time but couldnít compete with the Nokton 50/1.2 let alone this 50/1.0.

This looks like a very nice lens for a Leica SL2 type camera. Not sure on an M purely because of VF issues.

Minimum focus is a bummer. Even my 7A 1.1 focuses down to .7m. And before anyone scoffs, that lens gives a lovely vintage portrait look wide open (then sharpens up nicely) compared to modern glass. Which makes it worth having alongside 'perfect' lenses - especially given the ridiculously cheap price point!

The ZM 35 1.4 is $2400. (yeah I know it's not the same focal length, but mentioning this for price point). So if this new CV lens really is special, then $1800 is fine. That's less than a new Summarit 50 2.4.

This is going off on a tangent, kinda.. But I see the price of the Canon 50 .95 'dream lens' being cratered by this CV. Unless you don't mind buying an old lens that is beat up cosmetically, 'may' be converted correctly to M mount, and most prob has a lot of haze in it for $3500.

This is interesting. I always watch this too. Often times, you would think the price of something like this new CV will dampen prices of old Noctís or the Canon .95 or hexagon 60/1.2 types. But those older lenses donít seem to go down in price even with new releases. I guess itís collectorís glass.
