Anyone thinking about mounting this to a A7 FF camera? I know, you lose megapixels, but it might still be enough and it could be very convenient.

It's an attractive idea. I'm thinking of trying one on my A7Riv - still 26mpx in crop mode, which is plenty for a lot of my stuff.

Yep, I only have a Sony A7III which breaks down to approximately 10-11 mpx. So this is not such an easy decision. With your camera however, it's worth giving it a try I suppose. Of course, shallow of depth goes down to f4, but ISO stays at f2.8 levels. You have a 27-75mm reach (if I'm right) which is really nice. And this all very, very compact!

For travel or casual shooting it sounds like a very good package.

For the people in the US, I received confirmation today from B&H that my order (Leica L) has shipped.

I noticed today that this lens has educational pricing on B&H...$494. So, I went ahead with a pre-order. Looking forward to trying it as my most compact walk-around lens (on the A7Riv).

Cool! Maybe you want to share your experience

Btw. We don't have educational pricing on lenses etc. here in Germany. What a shame

I received mine (in Leica L mount) today.

First impressions are positive. The biggest difference with the Leica 18-56mm lens is probably the color rendition. Other than that build quality, auto focus, etc are all excellent.

Compared to the other TL zooms it zooms in the opposite direction. Not a big thing for me.

Perhaps the Leica 18-56mm lens might optically be slightly better (to be confirmed) but right now I don’t believe any small differences in image quality (if they exist) would justify the price difference, also given that the Sigma is faster and focuses closer.

So, I've been playing around with mine since I got it a couple hours ago. This is a really cool little lens. Pretty darn sharp in the center wide open through the range, lovely smooth Sigma bokeh. No onion rings.
With the CL and a wrist strap it weighs in at a grand total of 1Lb 10oz, my Q is 1LB 7oz. You can't really tell the difference between the Q and the CL/Sigma weight. For reference, my SL2-S and 24-90 come in at 5 Lb's 1.6oz

Anyways, it fits in my smallest Lowepro Rezo TLZ 10 bag perfectly. Such a small package with a big punch. Can you tell I'm impressed?

My Sony-mount version arrived today.

First impressions: It's so tiny! And first test shots in my office look great.

Tiny!!

I'm quite impressed with this little lens.

My buddy grabbed this shot of me at lunch today.

If you can, keep them coming. I have an A7r4 as well and I think this will be an ideal travel zoom to go with it. Low key and the F4 equivalent DOF works when you want the landscape or location to be included in family photos.

The lens has some noticeable distortion at the wide end, but it cleans up nicely with my home-brew Lightroom profile.

With profile applied

Uncorrected

I am considering this lens for A7riii. Can you please explain why depth of field goes down to f4?

FYI - Today's updates for Lightroom and Camera Raw now include a profile for the Sigma 18-50mm lens. It works very well.

Wanted to let you know...

I used the lens for an event a couple weeks ago, and used your homemade profile for the pics. It worked great and I was grateful to have it. So, thank you!

I bought the ZV-10 with 16-50 and I also grabbed the Sony 10-18 but this lens could replace the 16-50 which is okay. Zv-10 and 2 lenses 10-50 aka effective 15-75 FF would be all I need

It's great. Not quite as sharp into the corners as the 16-55 G, but that should be expected.

I would also highly recommend ditching the 10-18 and getting the Tamron 11-20. Even without OSS it's a far better lens.
