This summer I was exhibiting my work at the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach, so I didn't (and couldn't) go anywhere shoot. I think it's been over 3 months now since I had a camera in my hand. But, this last weekend I was finally able to go to the Sierra Nevada and shoot some fall colors. The place looked great and colors were peaking (at least in some areas). I was mostly after intimate kind of shots (leaves and branches etc.) and I found a few amazing trees in Aspendale for that. But, I also shot some easy accessible landscape locations (yes, I did go to the North Lake and it was crowded there).
Since I didn't have any clouds (or very few) I just burned the sky quite a bit to make the snow stand out. It did snow in the mountains (specially northern part of the SN, around Mammoth mountains). They all looked (and still do) fantastic with the snow and fall colors around them. If you do decide to go, go now. This weekend might be the last chance to get some colors (of aspen trees at least, others will probably change colors in early November). Oh, and the air quality is very good now...
