First, let's compare them wide open by shooting the building in front of mine, 12 meters away.
All pictures shot by a Leica M10 on a big tripod, 200 ISO, focusing with the EVF, DNG processed with default parameters in Capture One, white balance and exposure auto in C1, histogram aligned to the right to get brighter images and ease comparison.

I just forgot to deactivate lens detection so do not read too much into colors, etc.
But I shot to pictures to see the impact. Top is the new Voigt 2.8 Apo, bottom is the Leica Elmarit.
As you can see, the focal length of the Voigt is shorter, it has a bit more vignetting and colors are not the same.

Quick conclusion:
The Elmarit R is better than the Elmarit M both in the center and in the corners.
The Voigt Apo-Skopar has more contrast and is at least as good as the Elmarit R but not really better on a 24mpix sensor.

The old lenses show their age: low contrast for both and very weak corners for the Tele-Elmarit.

More to come later: same comparison at 5.6 and also between the Elmarit and the Voigt Apo-Skopar at longer and shorter distances.

Based on the color moiré alone, the APO Lanthar and the Tele Elmarit are best suited for the Leica M?

Or conversely, the other lenses deserve a better platform than the M10?

No, they are best suited for someone who wants a vintage look.

There is no better platform than the M10

We are talking about 100% crops, i.e. pixel-peeping. So far, I've decided to keep the Voigt instead of the Elmarit M but mainly because it has less flare, is smaller and lighter.
For real world images, the Elmarit is more than enough. I do not shoot repro with it nor landscapes wide-open.

Of course, if you have an M10-R and shot a different style of images, i.e. not portrait, street & spectacles, you may have a different opinion.

Quick conclusion:

The Voigt Skopar is not really better than at 2.8. It seems to be as good wide-open as closed-down. Impressive.
The Leica Elmarit M gets much better and comes very close to the Voigt Skopar, with lower contrast and maybe slightly less details but nothing significant in real life.

The Leica Elmarit R is worse and I do not know why as I shot several pictures and usually checked the focusing. So this is either my mistake or some focus shift I somehow missed.
I've use it often and also compared it before with the Elmarit M and it should be at least as good.

The older lenses, Tele-Elmarit and Voigt Lanthar are also better but still very far from the best and they really lack contrast.

Next: comparison of the Leica Elmarit 2.8 and the new Voigt Skopar Apo but at a longer distance, at least 50 meters, close to the infinity.
