A different take on a fascinating and beloved bird. Juvenile Green Heron, 10/12, York County, PA. I'm about 6 foot. It was a little over 2 body lengths away. Contrary to what many think, these birds are easy to find and approachable.

Excellent image Dave. Easy to find, yes if you know where they live. Approach, easy if they are used to people and the young ones seem easier to get close to than the adults.

Thanks, and I couldn't have said it better. You have to know where the birds are, and yes, juveniles are usually more approachable.

They're cool birds, especially in good light. Someone just sent me this, "At first glance it looks like a view of earth, very beautiful."
