Hey all,

I took this shot after taking a little hike up a random little creek on a typical grey PNW day.

5DSr, 16-35mm f4 @ 35mm for 6sec at F11

Thanks for checking it out,

Aaron

Aaron, this is a wonderful photo, with the right shutter speed for the flow of water. However, it might be me, but the background is dark that I cannot see any details (even the moss on the rock in the foreground is very muted in color). Could be better with the background being more brighter.

Thanks! And thanks for the feedback; on my monitor I can see shadow detail just fine, maybe theres a screen brightness difference? I tend towards a darker mood in my photos, so to my eye it looks dead on, but my tastes are different than a lot of folks I reckon. At any rate, thanks for the C&C!

Nice flow in this one, I usually prefer a little less silky water, but it works great here. Like the natural colors and realistic gloominess as well. Looks about right to me for a grey day here in the rain forests of the PNW.

If Photoshop or similar program is available, I would lighten the shadows to make it more pleasing to my eye I believe. But others may prefer the dark shadows.

It was a very dark day, so its pretty true to what my eyes saw. Editing is not an issue, I did lighten the shadows to the point that there was good shadow detail (depending on your screen I suspect) and called it a day in the processing department.

I vote yes for the very dark mood. That's the point of this photo, in my humble view.

This is a beautiful composition. Gorgeous spot. To me it looks a little on the darker side too. My 2 cents.

Beautiful shot. I also tend to prefer somewhat darker, more moody scenes, so this is right up my alley. I do wonder if slightly bumping the highlights/exposure locally in the brighter area in the background (directly above the falls) would add some depth, but it works for me regardless.

Good perspective, I’ll take a peek at that. Thanks!
