p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Summer Storm in the Sierra

Taken on a thru-hike of the SHR in 2020. I like this scene in black and white better than color, but can't quite get things right on this edit. I think the main thing is figuring out what crop/aspect ratio suits it most, but also additional dodging and burning might help it? Any critiques appreciated!

I've included three different images/crops of them. The one with the hiker in the foreground is obviously going for something slightly different but helps to provide comparison I think.

Cheers,
Sean

All three are very nice. I prefer the 4:5 crop over the 1:1 because of the additional drama in the sky. The sky on the last 2:3 crop is my favorite but I think that you lose too much of the lake and foreground details in the wider angle view. I am a sucker for B&W and I think that you did a great job with these.

Thanks for the thoughts fotofoow! I like the 4:5 as well. I think maybe I could compromise between the 2:3 and the 4:5 by playing with the sky more in the 4:5 to get it closer to the 2:3 range.

You can really feel what it feels to be there with these images! Thank you for the experience!
