I'm always very reluctant to photograph popular locations. Schwabacher Landing in the Grand Tetons is one of those. When I visited the location the night before (The night we arrived), however, I couldn't help but have the same desire as thousands, if not millions, of others who visited that same bend.
After scoping out other locations a mile up and a mile down, I settled on a location very close to the parking lot, as it had one of the best reflections and flowers. I took another sunrise photograph the next morning, about a 1/2 mile from the parking lot, but the light just wasn't quite right.
After bringing the exposure up in Lightroom that evening to get my first look at a non under-exposed image, I was awe-struck. I couldn't believe how beautiful this was captured in camera. It's probably one of the few photographs I've taken where it actually does the scene justice. It's going to be printed large, custom framed, and on my wall before the end of the year. Probably my personal favorite image to date. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.
A Grand Sunrise
