My style of photography has long been what I semi seriously called, 'street photography in nature', in the sense that I'd wander around, happen upon something that made me want to point my camera and push the shutter, and move on... having either captured that fleeting moment or not.
For me the act of being out there and seeing and being present in a particular way was its own reward. A kind of constant moving meditation. Over time though I became more interested in wildlife and then in wildlife doing specific things and of course in the gear to try and capture that.
As a result I've slowly become more intentional -- though shooting the burrowing owls in SoCal a couple of weeks was the first time I ever put a super telephoto on a base (monopod in the case) and stood in one place for 2 hours trying to capture one particular thing.
There will definitely be more and more of that as I was very happy with results and want to keep intentionally getting better. All that said and in the meantime here are some of the walking around, 'street photography in nature' shots I've captured with (and in the 3 weeks since) picking up the Sony 600mm f/4.
