A Black and White Story for those who might be interested:
In 2007 I was getting rolling with my landscape photography career and I walked into ProPhoto Supply (Portland, Oregon) and they happened to have the 2007 B&W Special Issue (Portfolio Contest Awards) and as I was waiting, I thumbed through the magazine and was TOTALLY BLOW AWAY by "The Excellence Awards" namely the super surreal seascapes of David Burdeny! Long exposure, super surreal, minimalism seascape B+W's. I had NEVER seen such a thing! I was hooked.
I began experimenting with this ultra long exposure work continuously, even up to this day, BUT because digital was not yet up to the task of being able to produce hyper clean, high quality, extremely long exposures for top quality B+W enlargement, I NEVER showed any of that work! 😳
Over more recent years, teaching "The Ultimate Mastering Fine Art Printmaking Workshop" with Robert B Park (of Nevada Art Printers) I have been forced to be on the absolute innovative cutting edge of post-processing technology for quality. Also, I having had the incredible luxury of making a full time living doing print post-processing for countless individuals, exhibitions and world class national and international nature/landscape photography galleries. I've had tons of wonderful pressure to push skillsets and newest technologies (often proprietary and innovated by myself or Robert of both of us together).
Along with viewing the AWESOME black and white work of photographer, friend and client Kevin Holiday I have recently gotten TOTALLY inspired to continue to build my body of minimalist, surreal B+W's, and finally start posting them!
Combine some recent MASSIVE breakthroughs in processing technology (*most notably the new Adobe 32-bit Raw Layer Workflow!) along with many new advanced and some proprietary techniques dealing with noise and detail THE FUTURE HAS ARRIVED to make the highest quality, world class, huge, fine art, Black and White enlargements! The sky is the limit.
For instance, I'll be posting an image that is 18 minutes long (I also did a 18 minute dark frame - for experimentation) shot with my Sony A7R2, that with these new workflow option/techniques, there is no limit for both size and print detail quality without even a hint of noise!
For those who might want to see what is becoming possible, check out my video on YouTube (I cannot post the link here) entitled "10 MEGAPIXELS TO 10 FOOT PRINT!" No joke! 😳 I already sent it out to everyone on my newsletter on 7/26/2021...
So, I want to give a BIG thank you to David Burdeny, Kevin Holiday, and Robert B Park! This (and more to come) would not have happened without you!
SO... HERE is my FIRST release of that body of work.
*BTW, the banding is due to FM compression...
