I visited the Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside NY on a hot and sticky (icky) morning and got to witness and photograph what may have been the chicks first flight. It is so nice to see this after two years of failures for the parents.

-1 For a moment I thought it was dad as it was flying so nicely. I wondered why he would return to the nest without a fish.

Thank you. I knew it was the time of year and hit it just right on my first return to the park in weeks.

Thank you Gordon. I think you can say that about photographing most raptors. Hours of boredom followed by a few minutes of excitement and joy.
