These may be the largest butterflies in N. America. The difference in top side/bottom side coloration is amazing. These are the same butterfly. C/C always appreciated.
I LOVE butterflies and the Swallowtails(papilio cresphontes)are around all summer! Beautiful capture Vic! Excellent "recto&verso" views. The views can be exact opposites top and under the wings.

Vic - I would never of known that was the same butterfly. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Greg just FYI...the recto(dorsal-top) versus verso(underwing) views of most butterlies are really different! I used to monitor a "Flights of Fancy" butterfly exhibit near me and the differences are phenominal!

Nice display Vic of the swallowtail top and bottom. The button bush seems to be a nice attractant though I hear they are considered invasive bushes?
Take care buddy

Karl, to the best of my knowledge Button Bush is native to the southern US. It is a very popular pollination plant here. I don't recall seeing it in Michigan. Thanks for your thoughts.
